New Scout Information
Pack and Den Events
Pack meetings are held once a month, usually on the second Tuesday (scheduled around Jewish holidays). The complete Pack calendar with special events is on a separate page. Your den will have weekly and/or monthly meetings to add to this calendar.
Uniforms
Lions (Kindergarten) and their parent-partners wear a uniform T-shirt.
Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos (1st – 4th grade) uniform consists of the official Cub Scout blue uniform shirt with uniform or school blue pants or shorts (no jeans), cap, and belt.
You will also need to purchase World Scout Badge and Council Shoulder Patch (if you buy in person, the Scout Shop already puts these on and includes them in the price) and a den numeral. The Pack will provide you an “806” patch for the shirt, the neckerchief, and all other badges.
Arrow of Light (5th grade) Scouts may optionally wear the tan and green Scouts BSA uniform with blue shoulder loops. Patches are the same as for Wolf and Bear.
Scout uniforms can be purchased locally at any of the Sam Houston Area Council Scout Shops.
Handbook, Scouting App, and Scoutbook
There is a special book for each rank level that the Scouts use to track their progress and learn about each requirement. The Pack provides each Scout with their handbook.
The Scouting APP and Scoutbook Plus website also tracks Scouts' progress on their rank advancement, hiking miles, camping nights, and community service hours.
Finances & Fundraising
Dues cover registration, a year of Scout Life (Scouting’s youth magazine), insurance, your child’s advancement badges, and other costs. The Pack returns some of this money to your den for use in crafts and activities. Campouts are additional. For those joining after the start of the academic year, pack dues will be reduced accordingly. Annual dues are generally collected in the summer. We encourage Scout families to participate in yearly fundraising activities to keep costs down.
All New members, regardless of grade:

Returning Cub Scouts - Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Light:

$240 to Pack 806 (Pack and national dues; covers all BSA charges for 2026-2027).
Some parents of returning members may get a notice from National BSA to pay their dues. Returning members should NOT pay the national BSA invoice, it will be paid by the Pack once you have paid your dues.
